Leave Your Legacy
Legacy giving or planned giving is a powerful way to help La Plata County Humane Society continue its mission and helps make advances in our life-saving programs. The impact of a planned gift truly makes a difference in the lives of so many animals. We ask you to consider making a lasting contribution for the future benefit of pets in need.
What is legacy giving or planned giving?
“Planned giving” is a charitable gift that is arranged in the present for a future allocation date. A donor can decide to leave assets to La Plata County Humane Society in his or her Will, commonly refereed to as a “Bequest”. Other planned gifts can be made through trusts, retirement plans (IRA) or life insurance policies. A donor may also designate their estate and will receive a charitable estate tax deduction at his or her death, when the gift is made.
What are different types of planned gifts?
A planned gift can be:
- A gift or “bequest” from your Will or Trust.
- Naming La Plata County Humane Society as a beneficiary of your Retirement Plan (IRA), Life Insurance Plan Policy, Savings, Checking or Brokerage accounts.
- Designating your estate to La Plata County Humane Society.
