Powder Hounds Art Auction – 8th Annual

Join us for the 8th Annual Powder Hounds Art Auction, a celebration of creativity, community, and compassion, benefiting the La Plata County Humane Society.

Powder Hounds kicks off with an in-person event on March 6, launching a fully online art auction that will remain open through March 17. At the kickoff event, all featured artwork will be on display, and guests will have the opportunity to meet the local artists while enjoying an evening at the Powerhouse.

For Powder Hounds, upcycled snowboards are transformed into one-of-a-kind works of art by local artists, giving new life to old gear while supporting animals in need. The auction also includes a special bronze sculpture by Suzie Grimm, which will be on display during the event.

Whether you attend in person or participate online, Powder Hounds is a unique opportunity to support homeless pets while celebrating local talent and sustainability.

Durango Powder Pet Photo Contest

What is a powder pet you ask? A powder pet is an animal who loves the snow, skiing, snowboarding or any other fun indoor or outdoor activity. We want to see all of your powder pets!

The pet with the most votes will win a custom commissioned snowboard art piece featuring the winning pet, created by internationally collected artist Ray Phillips. 

The Powder Pet Photo Contest was created in partnership with our Powder Hounds Snowboard Art Auction. The art auction features snowboard art created by local artists and placed up for auction in a week long online silent auction. We understand that not everyone is interested in bidding on snowboards or playing the auction game, so we created a fun, interactive, pet friendly photo contest for all to join!

100% of the proceeds from both the photo contest and the art auction will benefit the homeless animals in our care. Funds raised will help ensure that LPC Humane Society can continue to provide essential services to pets in need.
